Description: |
A festive setting of the familiar Longfellow text (and the tune "Waltham" by J.B. Calkin) for TTBB Chorus and Organ, with optional audience participation. The choir parts are straightforward, with two verses in unison, two using the same 4-part harmony, and one in 2 parts (tune and descant). The organ provides the excitement and colour, with an arresting introduction, a brooding minor reharmonization of the fourth verse ("And in despair I bowed my head...") and a triumphant "pull-out-all-the-stops" final verse. The score (which is a very legible handwritten MS) comes with a printed lyrics sheet that can be copied as desired and handed out to your audience, should you wish to have them sing along in unison with the familiar tune. |
