Description: |
A whimsically thorough-going and virtuosic fugue dating from the composer's student days. (The subject was originally a harmonization exercise assigned by one of his professors!) It includes quotations from famous French organ works, and its mock-serious tone parodies the academic rigidity and musical aridity of the fugues churned out year after year for the sole purpose of passing an examination at the Paris Conservatoire.
$20 gets you all the performance materials: a transposed score, a score in C, and parts for soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones. |
